Tuesday's Chemo

Before my chemo on Tuesday we met with the Nurse Practitioner and reviewed my recent blood test number. My cancer marker numbers, CA19-9 were up from last time but she said they have a tendency to be elevated after you start chemo because the test measures cancer as well as inflammation. And the chemo creates inflammation. In short it is not an apples to apples comparison. The numbers should become more accurate with more chemo under my belt.

All the other numbers were OK and didn't require me to take any additional meds to boost my blood. She said they would probably do a comparative CT scan after 3 rounds of chemo. A round is 3 weekly chemos followed by 1 week off. After my week off next week I will have completed 1 round.

I have felt pretty good overall since the chemo with the exception of some fatigue and some elevated body temps (similar side effects to the first 2 chemo treatments.
