Had my 3rd chemo of my 2nd round yesterday. I now will be off for a week before resuming. Before the chemo treatment we met with the oncologist, Dr. Kosmo. He reviewed my cancer markers (CA19-9) and saw that it was 3464 on 5/2 and had fallen to 1046 (on 5/30). So, it shows the chemo Gemzar is working. And according to him it has only works with 20% of the people who take it. Next month I will take a CT scan so we can see the size of the tumor(s) and then a PET scan will be done in October.
So that new looks promising. When we got home we found UPS had left my Procrit with one of our neighbors, Kelly, a former ICU nurse. There were 4 doses (1 a week) in the dry ice filled box. She came over and showed us how to put the syringe together and do the subcutaneous injection. We never heard from Aetna insurance about the co-pay so I hope that means there is none. I understand the full price of one dosage is $5,000 (not a typo).
All in all a great day due to the grace of God and the prayers and thought of family and friends.
