Monday's outpatient procedure

What a day Monday was. I had not eaten since 11pm the night before. I was to self-administer a Fleet enema one hour before heading for the hospital at 3pm. Unfortunately that little exercise completely depleted my energy. I became extremely dizzy and could hardly sit up straight much less stand. Martha called two of our neighbors, Jim and Dennis to help me down the stairs and into the car. They wheeled me to the edge of the stairs and were prepared to try and help me down. However, I knew I would pass out if I stood and they would have to maneuver my dead weight downstairs. So we called 911.

The Fire Department (just down the street) arrived in just a few minutes. Very professional and accomplished, but I knew they were good due to the times they came to the house for Martha's hip dislocations. They got me into an ambulance and after some degree of confusion at the hospital I got checked.

Fr. Robert from our church, St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal, was there. What a pastor and a friend. He has been with us for all of our hospital procedures.

Dr. A was late, which I understand is typical. ERCP procedure started shortly before 7pm and was over fairly quickly. My stent was undamaged but he did replace with another temporary. He said that something else was causing the jaundice and trouble eating, probably related to the lesions on the liver.

So now, we are waiting to get my first chemo, sometime later this week I hope. The oncologist, Dr. Kosmo should have some more insight on what the problems are and the possible solutions.

As always, your positive outlook, giving spirit, and tenacious love of life are amazing:) I hope you now find some relief from the nausea, discomfort and pain.
You're in our family's thoughts and prayers for a fast recovery. Saw what you wrote about the "whipple" procedure - it will be great if that works! (...remember Mr. Whipple in the Charmin commercials from the 70's?...)
