Martha had her first of two hand surgeries this past Thursday. The doctor scraped out what was left of her right hand thumb joint (because of arthritis), rebuilt her joint with a tendon from her right arm and a 6" rod and then fixed her carpal tunnel. She is in a splint and will have that replaced with a cast on 7/14. She is very limited in what she can do until she gets her cast. Thank God, my daughter Jen was here to drive, fix meals, and run errands. She will get her left hand fixed later this year.
I go in for a CT Scan on Tuesday which will show us a comparison of the tumors. Since my blood "numbers" have gotten better over the last few months we are praying that the tumors have gotten smaller as well. On Thursday I go in to the hospital for an ERCP procedure which will replace the plastic stent in my bile duct with a permanent metal one. I will probably have to stay overnight for observation.
Several weeks ago my friend Stewart Crawford and I were discussing cars. I told him I really would like to have had a Corvette and had ridden in some but had never driven one. On the afternoon on the 4th of July, I got a call from Stewart. It sounded like he was at a bar or party. He told me he had a Vette in his driveway and asked if I wanted to drive it. So he shows up at the house with a bright red convertible which looked like it had been driven off the showroom floor. I asked him if he had bought it or won it in a poker game...... It seems like Stewart was at a neighbor's pool party when the neighbor's nephew drove up in his Corvette. Stewart told him about me never having driven a Vette and he flipped the keys over to him and said here, let him take it for a spin. So Stewart drove the 30 minutes to our house and let me take it for a short drive. I was blown away by the entire experience. First, that Stewart would take the time to mention me to a stranger and secondly, this stranger would allow me to drive his beautiful red car. By the way, if you are still reading this blog entry, I have never driven (or ridden in) a Ferrari or Lamborghini ..............

How about a red Hyundai or a Chevy pick up??? Hey--don't go so long without "blogging." We have been worried about you! We are so sorry for Martha--you guys are having too much stuff right now. Do hope your news is good tomorrow and will pray for an easy time on Friday. Thanks for the Order of Julian article. Take care! Blessings, Sue and Chris
